Lack of preparation for this question could very well cost you the job. One of the most important things is to be honest with your reason for wanting to work there, otherwise it will show. Ask yourself the question first, why do you want to work there? If your answer about working there is that you just need a job and paycheck, then dig a little deeper. Make sure you have a clear understanding of why you want to work for them and that it's more than "just a job" to you. Do you admire this company? Do you like their products? Do they have a great success story? The key here is what is important to you about this company. The best way to prepare for why you want to work there is to research the company before you attend the interview and learn everything you can, past, present and future. Remember, the idea behind the interview is to find the best and most qualified candidate for the job and one that will best fit in with its culture. At this point, you should describe how your past experience has prepared you for this company. Your answer should demonstrate your familiarity with the company and its products and by doing this the interviewer will recognize you as a serious candidate. Interviewers like to hear praise about their company because it further solidifies the company's reputation in their own mind, but don't overdo it because it will come out sounding fake and cheap. 08 common Interview question and answers - Job Interview Skills 1. "Tell me a little about yourself." You should take this opportunity to show your communication skills by speaking clearly and concisely in an organized manner. Because there is no right or wrong answer for this question, it is important to appear friendly. 2. "What are your strengths?" This is a popular interview question. They want to know what you think of yourself. Although this is a general question, there is a wrong and right answer. The wrong answer is a generic answer saying you are organized and friendly. Although it will not hurt you during the interview, it will certainly not help you either. Answer this question based on the type of job you are applying for. 3. "What are your weaknesses?" For this answer, you should display a weakness that can be seen as a strength. There are many types of answers that will work. Some answers will be good answers for certain jobs, while the same answer will be a bad answer for a different job. Select an answer that will work for the position you are applying for. 4. "Where do you see yourself in five years?" This question primarily depends on where you are in your career. A person with 5 years of experience will have different goals than a person with no work experience. This question is asked to see how serious a candidate is about his or her career. Some people might not know their goals, and some people might have goals of becoming rich and retiring early. Those are incorrect answers for this question. The type of answer you want to give is an ambitious answer that shows you really love your career. A good interviewer will read between the lines and find out if a person is going to be a hard worker or just a mediocre one. Being descriptive and shooting for a big goal is something interviewers want to hear. 5. "What do you know about our company?" A typical job interview question, asked to find out how much company research you have conducted, is "What do you know about this company?" Prepare in advance, and in a word, research, so you can provide relevant and current information about your prospective employer to the interviewer. 6. "Are you good at dealing with change?" Dealing with change is common in the work place. A simple yes will not be sufficient to impress the interviewer. This is another type of question where everyone will have similar answers. Of course everyone is going to claim being excellent dealing with change. You got to communicate that you are really good at dealing with change. 7. "Do you work well under pressure?" In most cases, the best answer to this question is answering yes. Working well under pressure is a good trait to have. However, I think if you answer that you work the same with pressure and without pressure, the interviewer will be more impressed. However, you will need to explain in words why this is better. 8. "How do you make important decisions?" There are many ways to answer this question, and if you have a reasonable method of making decisions, it will probably be sufficient. One answer I thought of included not being afraid of asking your manager. You can follow up by saying even the best needs mentoring, and you always want to improve. So basically, this could work as an answer, but depending on the job, you might have a better shot with an answer like my example.

Why do you want to work here interview question - In this job interview questions and answers series Suman Bhattacharjee will explain what answer to say when you are asked the question Why do you want to work here interview question. Here he also provides you a sample answer at the end that you can follow to answer the question " Why do you want to work here interview question" or "Why do you want to work here" or "Why do you want to join our company" Answer This Job Interview Question: Why Do You Want to Work Here? The question of, "Why do you want to work here?" is not limited to job interviews. You’ll find it knocking on your door in networking, informational interviewing, and even at job fairs. When you are asked this innocent-sounding question, you need to have a strong answer. Your answer should demonstrate your knowledge of the company and the skills, talents, experience, and strengths you have that are a match for their culture and the targeted position/department. It's Not About You Until you get to the point of receiving an offer, employers are just looking for reasons to eliminate you. Here are some answers you never want to find coming out of your mouth: "For the money." "It seems like a nice place to work." "My cousin Fred works for you, and he has great benefits." All three of these answers are similar, and may be absolutely true. However, they share the same problem – they are all about what you want. However, they do not make the employer interested in hiring you. Generic answers don't make you stand out either: "Because I know I can make a really good contribution." What's Wrong with These Answers? The answers above don't stand out to the employer because they aren't about the employer. They make one of two mistakes: 1. These answers, above, focus on the benefit to you of the job. While the employer probably wants you to be happy in the job, they don't care about the benefit to you at this point. They want to know the benefit to them if they hire you. 2. Those answers don't demonstrate an understanding of the employer's needs. The employer wants to know that you are really interested in this job, and a vague or self-focused answer doesn't show that interest. With these answers, you fade into the woodwork and get lost among the other job seekers who have not done their homework either. These answers will never get you far with an employer. Do Your Homework When I say, "homework" I am referring to research and preparation in three key areas: 1. Know yourself 2. Know the company 3. Know the position and the department (if possible). Let me walk you through these: 1. Know Yourself Before you talk to employers, or even network for positions, you need to have a strong grasp of what you can offer them. (What’s the return on investment you provide to the employer?) You should be able to talk about your strengths and your accomplishments, and to readily give concrete answers to questions such as "What are your greatest strengths?" "Why should we hire you?" and "Tell me about yourself." as well as "What do you know about us?" and "Why do you want to work here?" 2. Know the Company Get to know the companies you will be talking to (or talking about, if networking). When you know details about them, their culture, their goals, their products, and their challenges, you are then able to talk about yourself and your fit into the company. Visit LinkedIn, and read the company profile information. Search for current/past employee profiles. "If you are able to, yes," Katie says, "and if not, just do The Work on that moment when you can, and be as kind as you can in the situation." In this week’s video, we’re going to go over how to answer “tell me about a time when you worked with a team”. That’s coming up. Hi guys, I’m Kim with Snagajob, your number one source for hourly jobs and welcome to our weekly advice show. Situational job interview questions like “tell me about a time when you…(blank)” can be hard to answer. They are extremely open ended and used to help the interviewer get a sense of how you handle on the job situations. It’s important to format your answer in a way that remains on topic, but answers all the key points the interviewer is looking for. The STAR interview method is a great format to use. When asked to explain a time you worked with a team, there are definitely right and wrong ways to answer. You want to avoid answers like: “I hate teams, unless I can be the boss-I mean leader. There may be no ‘I’ in team, but there is a ‘me’ in team.” “My last job had a team environment, which was great because I could let everyone else do all the work. No worries though, I’m sure I’ll work harder at this job.” “I worked on a team in my last position. Man, I loved that job. My coworkers were hilarious. They had the best food too. Do you like chimichangas? ” You want to stay focused on the question and not come across as selfish or hard to get along with. Show the interviewer you have no problem working with others toward a common goal. “In my previous retail position, we were split into teams by department to work Black Friday and each department would compete to achieve the highest sales. My team and I made an action plan to have each person cover a specific area so that no customer would be an oversight and go without assistance. We ended up with a 10% increase in sales from the previous year and the highest number of sales among all the departments.” This type of answer is well-formatted and shows that you can be successful while working with others. Do you have a situational question that you would like to see answered? Ask below!
